I know that according to the nay-sayers, novels like Katherine Kurtz’s Deryni series and Robin Hobb’s Farseer trilogy showed once and for all that psionics have no place in fantasy literature and thus in Fantasy games. I know that according to the nay-sayers, novels like Katherine Kurtz’s Deryni series and Robin Hobb’s Farseer trilogy showed once and for all that psionics have no place in fantasy literature and thus in Fantasy games. I really enjoy the 3. 5e psionics system and the Dreamscarred Press’ take on said system for the Pathfinder RPG. Do you use psionics in your games? Give me your psionics tales and gut reactions. That guy who draws all those maps at Dyson’s Dodecahedron.

I’m back to running 1E, and I always used psionics in the past and am using them now. I just re-booted him as an NPC for the game I’m running actually. Worth picking up, I could certainly email you the details of the matrixes if you’re interested and don’t have a copy. CP2020 that had lots of potential but was a bit kludgy. Therefore it is simple and not overly powerful.

It is also easily adapted to all kinds of different campaigns. The other option is to simply re-skin arcane magic. I made them psychics with talents rather than spellcasters with spells. It actually works pretty well in that case.

I think if you did it with mages you’d simply end up with something that looked like a 3Eish sorcerer. They worked, they were fun, but were always lacking. Rolemaster made them just another type of caster just like 4e. I enjoy that a bit better. Star Wars d6 Jedi were amazingly pisonic. Dark Sun and even Planescape would counter that. I liked how they handled psionics, with the gimmicky but fun use of Zener cards.

The character is forever non, i could certainly email you the details of the matrixes if you’re interested and don’t have a copy. I liked how they handled psionics, what to do with it? 5 DMG talking about how to use anti, for the simple reason that I think psychic abilities are real and almost everyone with whom I play is tremendously turned off by this idea.
